Diggin’ On: FABRICLIVE presents Pola & Bryson

Pola & Bryson’s mix has been in my rotation for a couple of months now. Had some highway time today, and it demanded an audience with CarPlay. It’s of a piece with the work of DJ Marky and Calibre. There’s probably a more fashionable term, but I call it “Soulful DnB”. Definitely drum ’n’ bass at the core: less jump-up, not much toasting, more soulful vocals, and yes, piano licks (yellow shoes …).

FABRIC MIXES

FABRICLIVE presents Pola & Bryson

Rising D&B duo Pola & Bryson launch FABRICLIVE presents, a brand new mix and compilation series paying homage to the iconic FABRICLIVE series, which ran from 2001 to 2018 and became a defining platform for bass music culture in the UK.

It includes lead single, ‘Worlds Apart’ ft. Emily Makis, and the much-awaited follow-up collaboration since 2023’s ‘Phoneline’. More new music comes from Etherwood & Hugh Hardie, Xeonz, Charli Brix and Molecular, not forgetting a jam-packed mix featuring heavyweight names in D&B such as Camo & Krooked, Mefjus and Breakage, alongside newcomers like IYAMAH, Monrroe, and Thread.

Regular readers know I’m in the tank for anything Fabric London. I’ve got a digital version of all 100 releases for both of Fabric and FabricLive, plus a decent collection of the original physical CDs. What I didn’t realize is that this Pola & Bryson episode is the start of a new mix series. I had just read it as another release in the Fabric Presents series.

Looking forward to seeing more from the renewed FabricLive.
